Below is the section of the linker file that is generated by e2studio but the code fails to copy correctly from ROM to RAM .rtdata 0x4000 : AT (.rtdata_address) { _rtdata = .; *(.rtdata) _ertdata = .; .rt_address = _mdata + _edata; } > RAM .data 0x0 : AT (_mdata) { _data = .; *(.data) *(.data.*) *(D) *(D_1) *(D_2) _edata = .; } > RAM Regards Richard

July 19, 2017 Commented Hi Darius Thank you for the reply I was missing a basic fundamental, the _mdata label is the ROM address where the RAM is copied from. I have made a copy of the linker file and customized it as per your instruction. Copied the code from ROM to RAM at startup and I have success! One last question: Is there a way to make a label in the section data that has the value (_mdata + _edata)? Then i can use the “Reserve memory for section mapping” to pass the param Rgds Richard

July 17, 2017 Commented Hi Darius Thank you for the response, i have read through the GNU linker a bit and can confirm that i have much to learn! Am I supposed to add this LMA in the .lst file? Is that the linker file? I see that the _edata is the end of the RAM address in my case, what is the _mdata? Is it not possible to use the e2studio to gui to pass these parameters to the linker script?There is an option to "reserve memory for section mapping", is that not what is required here? In the meantime i have tried adding the code to the .data section. What i have observed is that code is placed in the data area and copied across at startup but strangely enough the code is places over the .bss area. The .bss area ranges from 0h -> F0h and the functions placed in the data area are placed from 0h -> 539h. How would one correct this behavior? Regards Richard
