Could anyone please tells me the major differences between the RH850 and V850 families ?
Could anyone please tells me the major differences between the RH850 and V850 families ?
and also if there is a compatibility between them. i mean could I use the GCC V850 toolchain to compile MCU RH850 projects?
The RH850 is the next-generation of devices after V850.
There are several cores:
- G3K 5-stage pipeline, no FPU, no multi-core support (very similar to V850E2S)
- G3KH 5-stage pipeline, single FPU, multi-core support
- G3M 7-stage pipeline, double FPU, multi-core support (very similar to V850E2M)
- G3MH 7-stage pipeline, double FPU, multi-core support
As the RH850 is backward compatible with V850 ISA, tools for V850 can be used for development on RH850.

Hello,
Thank you for your patience!
The RH850 cores are the same as the V850e3v5 cores. If you wish to compile RH850 projects using V850, please use the ‘-mv850e3v5’ option.
