Hello.
I’m a user trying to use e2-server-gdb rx-elf-gdb/run in an unattended continuous integration environment. I’ve got manual for e2-server-gdb from Renesas but not detailed information for the clients, rx-elf-gdb.exe and rx-elf-run.exe. I don’t know how to find it. Basically I’d be interested in the tools options for properly configuring the clients at command line.
At e2studio I can see parameters for rx-elf-gdb at debug configuration, but I don’t know neither their translation to command line options nor other configuration options I could use from command line.
After asking for this information to RenesasRulz I was told that perhaps Open Source Tools for Renesas support could help in regards.

The manual for rx-elf-gdb and gdb in general can be found at this location: <RX toolchain install location>/Doc/gdb.pdf
Considering the automation use case, it could prove helpful to launch gdb with a command file:
rx-elf-gdb target_executable.x < commandfile.txt 2>&1
The commandfile.txt can contain any commands that users would execute during an interactive gdb session, for example:
target sim load b main run c
GDB will execute the specified commands, then quit. The standard output could then be checked for any errors that may have occurred.
Regarding rx-elf-run, there’s no manual for it, but it’s a fairly simple tool:
– it uses the same implementation of the RX simulator as rx-elf-gdb (when executing the target sim command)
– the available options can be displayed by running:
rx-elf-run -?

I wonder if parameterization you send me is equivalent to that in e2studio debug configuration, including parameterization to connect gdb server. For instance,
-rx-force-v2
localhost configuration
GDB port number
target deviceAt the end we try to transfer e2studio debug/run configuration to command line and continuous integration .I know where to find gdb server console output in e2studio, but I’m not able to see how rx-elf-gdb or rx-elf-run are executed.
On the other side, I wonder if gdb documentation is general purpose or specific for rx-elf-gdb.

You can see the commands sent to rx-elf-gdb in the Console tab (same place where the gdb server output is shown), but you must switch it to the gdb traces output. There is a console icon on the right, with a dropdown.
From the command line, you would first start the gdb server, explicitly specifying the port number:
C:\Users\[[Username]]\.eclipse\com.renesas.platform_233474849\DebugComp\RX\
C:\Users\[[User]]\.eclipse\com.renesas.platform_233474849\DebugComp\RX\e2-server-gdb -p 63676 -g SIMULATOR < ..other options, as seen in the gdb server Console tab..>Then you could start rx-elf-gdb:
rx-elf-gdb –interpreter=mi2 < command_file.txt The command file would contain the commands as seen in the Console, GDB trace log: cd

set breakpoint pending on
set detach-on-fork on
set python print-stack none
set print object on
set print sevenbit-strings on
