Source code for installer and prebuilt binaries
Hello,
Where can I find sources for installer and prebuilt binaries for Linux from the download section? I wanted to build toolchain myself with same configuration and flags as in prebuilt version. It is distributed as one binary executable and it contains GPL code inside, so whole its contents must be licenced under GPL. Or am I missing something?

Which version of the GCC for Renesas toolchain are you using please, and for which target?
We have a dedicated page for every toolchain with the source code on our website: https://llvm-gcc-renesas.com. Please check section “PRODUCTS”, choose the toolchain you want to use, and open the “Source Code” page.
All of our GCC for Renesas toolchains is licensed under the GPL license. The installer and the files it installs are separate works. As a result, the terms of the GPL do not apply to the installation software. For more information, please check the following page: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.en.html#GPLCompatInstaller

Hello,
I am using latest RX toolchain v8.3.0.202104-GNURX. And I want to build it with same configuration as it is in prebuilt version.
Especially I am interested in configuration flags you use for building Nano version of Newlib. By flags I mean options which you specify to the configure script.
Could you please share those options or maybe whole build script. I suppose it is not a commercial secret.Regards

The configuration options used to build the Nano version of the latest Newlib sources is the following:
NEWLIB_NANO_OPT=”–target=rx-elf CFLAGS_FOR_TARGET=-Os –prefix=$BB_BIN_NANO_LINUX –enable-newlib-reent-small –disable-newlib-fvwrite-in-streamio –disable-newlib-fseek-optimization –disable-newlib-wide-orient –enable-newlib-nano-malloc –disable-newlib-unbuf-stream-opt –enable-newlib-nano-formatted-io –disable-nls”
We are also working on updating the build procedure information specific to the latest RX toolchain. The current build procedure can be found here: https://llvm-gcc-renesas.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_build_the_RX_Toolchain_under_Ubuntu_14.04 .
If you want to only rebuild the newlib/newlib nano versions, we are suggesting using the libgen functionality of the toolchain. Please use rx-elf-libgen –select-lib=newlib or –select-lib=newlib_nano to build the respective libraries. You can also add additional compiler options (–compiler-options=) to the utility which will be used as compile options for the newlib/newlib_nano libraries.

Thank you, that is what I needed.
If you plan to update build information it would be cool if you also make a Dockerfile from it. A lot of companies are using Docker for their toolchains nowadays.
