Development tool setup for Renesas RX MCU
Development tool setup for Renesas RX MCU
Hi, I am new to Renesas MCU as well as using this open source tool for the RX mcu. I have installed the RX gcc toolset from this website as well as the e2 studio from Renesas website. Now I wanted to setup the full development environment as follows (these are the requirements):
- How do I use this gcc toolset with the Renesas e2 studio – manual/guide needed
- What programming cable is needed to connect my laptop to my Renesas embedded board in order to flash the mcu’s program memory?
- What else is needed for getting started with Renesas RX mcu? Any advise will be much appreciated
Thank you
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us!
Resources regarding e2 Studio usage and the RX MCU itself can be found on the Renesas website or in the e2 Studio help menu:
– e2 Studio documentation, for example the quick start guide:
https://www.renesas.com/us/en/software-tool/e2studio-information-rx-family?documents-type-filter=manual-development-tools#document
– RX software manuals:
https://www.renesas.com/us/en/support/document-search?keywords=RX%20Family%20Instruction%20Set%20Architecture&doc_file_all_types[Manual%20-%20Software]=Manual%20-%20Software
Toolchain specific documentation can be found in the toolchain documentation folder. For example Section 3.18.41 RX Options in <Toolchain install location>\Doc\gcc.pdf can prove useful in understanding the available command line options for the RX target.
Please note that we don’t offer support for the development boards, only for the LLVM/GCC toolchains. We recommend seeking help on the board producer’s website.
