A New LLVM-Based Toolchain Released for Renesas RL78!
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the performance of the toolchains that we deliver to all our users worldwide, today we are releasing a new and improved toolchain for the Renesas RL78 target, based on the LLVM compiler at the very core. The latest version of the LLVM-based toolchain for Renesas RL78, 10.0.0.202104, may be downloaded from here.
LLVM for RL78 comes today with significant performance improvements (both in code size and in speed) compared to GCC for Renesas RL78. It also comes with support for the latest language standards, including full support for the C17 and C++17 standards, and experimental support for the C2x (the upcoming C standard), as well as partial support for the C++20 standard.
This marks a significant milestone for the Renesas RL78 toolchain overall, and we are happy to share it with you. Should you have any feedback about the above, please let us know your thoughts about these upgrades in the comments below.
